Beaujolais - Situation on August 22nd 2018

The vineyards of Beaujolais benefited from fine summery conditions: bright, warm weather, with little rainfall; there were no thunderstorms.
The vineyard is now very healthy, there is no disease but we are beginning to notice hydric stress in the very exposed plots or for the very young vines.
Maturity evolves rather slowly under these conditions. The skins are thick; the bunches rather small, but we are still heading for a generous harvest.
These last few days will be important for the gain in taste and aromas. The weather forecasts are still looking good and the harvest should start in the first days of September.
