Beaujolais Nouveau 2012

The past 4 weeks the Beaujolais region enjoyed variable weather with a couple of days of great sun followed by some rainfalls.
The wine growers have been able to take care of their vineyards and built an opinion of the crop potential.

2012 is a very special year in a sense that there is a lot of "millerand”. Those tiny berries are a key factor for quality as they bring fruit and concentration but the consequence is that the volume of the crop will be one of the smallest we have ever known for the past 10 years. This will impact the prices and we envisage an increase of 10 % for both Beaujolais and Beaujolais villages. We will confirm this price trend end of August. We still estimate the harvest date around September 10th.

Next update mid August.
