Harvesting will soon be over

One of our "Côte de Beaune" appellation vineyards remains to be harvested, and then the crop will be over.
The chardonnay grapes were just splendid. The reds slightly suffered from the poor weather encountered all through the summer period and the high rainfalls in August. The few spots ot rot which had then developed were stopped by the improved weather conditions prevailing just before the harvest. As it is often the case, a careful sorting out was necessary but the remaining grapes were beautitul and enjoyable on the palate. They did not reach the sugar content which was forecasted, or even feared, in such a precocious year. They present a good balance with a good acidity level. It is still too early to state on the quality of the wines as the fermentations are still on or, in some cases, just over.
