Beaujolais Nouveau - Situation as of August 24th 2017

I had a walk yesterday in the Beaujolais vineyards and I want to share immediately with you my enthusiasm.
With no surprise I found that the vines were still beautiful, healthy, with a lot of grapes well spread per vine stock. Bunches have beautiful pine shapes with a nice dark blue colour. Berries have at this moment a sugary taste and flavours with a little touch of acidity.
The next days before harvest will be crucial to improve taste.

The heat of these last weeks has well contributed to reduce the size and weight of the grapes and the skins are thick. This is a quality factor. Harvest should start in one week; as of today the situation seems to promise us an excellent 2017 Beaujolais Nouveau that could be compared with 2003 but with more freshness.
